If you have read the novel, Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan, you will be familiar with the words which make up the title of this weblog “Flee the wrath to come”
The Bunyan novel is a biblical allegory who’s main character Christian, is seeking guidance as to how he can escape his damnable condition and the coming destruction of the city, in which he and his whole household dwell.
At the outset of Christian’s journey he meets Evangelist, who hands him a scroll with the inscribed words “flee the wrath to come”
So begins Christian’s journey as he seeks to escape the city of destruction and make his way to the city of safety, the Celestial City.
Though you will not find Christ in the gospel accounts using these exact words “flee the wrath to come” you most certainly will find Christ compelling his followers to flee the ways of the world, to forsake the sinful, selfish man and strive (agonize) to enter into eternal life… for the gate is narrow” Luke 13:24
As in Bunyans allegory and Christs compulsion, the road to the celestial city, is a life journey. It requires first and foremost that one forsake the things of the world (city of destruction), and flee from them, as we journey down the narrow path which leads to eternal life.
The term “flee the wrath” was also used by John the Baptist when preaching in the wilderness, as a prelude to Christ’s ministry. John uses the following words addressing the church leaders of his day, the scribes and pharisees. “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee the coming wrath”
This message to flee, to escape, to come out of, is very much a message that preceded a coming judgment. This theme continues throughout the bible, all the way to the very end of the church age, where in Revelation Chapter 18 we read the following “And I heard a voice call out from heaven saying “come out of her my people, lest you share in her sorrows”
In this instance the message to come out of, or flee her, pre-cedes the destruction of Babylon the great, and the soon return of Christ.
Failure to come out of this “Babylon the great” will render to the unbeliever, or disobedient one, a portion of the wrath of God.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.
I believe the trump has sounded, it’ s time for us to awake from our slumber. If we truly belong to Christ then we must flee the wrath that is to come, and be found in Him.
hi dad great site
PV 27:12
The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
AS a Christian past 31 years I know about the Word of God and believers to flee in end times to the outer parts of cities when we see what is coming. Dave Wilkersons prophetic march 2009 was warning all about what is coming. I told a Christian lady she told her adult Christian kids about this and they haventa clue about this. Asked her,”What does flee mean”. So we need to tell others about it instead of living daily as worldly unbelieevers . Ignorance is NOT bliss.
I agree with everything you have stated on this site, and I am truly blessed to have found such a truthful, biblical thing in the internet that speaks only of what i have been praying and thinking about for only 1 year. I came to Christ last year after being raised an atheist. I found Christ by finding the evil first. I learned of Babylon, the New World Order…the last days. I can’t believe a real person made this site. I am praying for you. I hope you and your family are out of America. I’d love an e-mail regarding advice on leaving.
Hi there Child of God,
I live in Australia but realistically we are like a little America in so many ways. The Spirit of Babylon is just as pervasive in this nation as the USA I would imagine.
Fleeing physical Babylon is not the issue. That is to say that moving house won’t make much difference. Come live in Australia, and you can still be “in Babylon”
I believe that the key to escaping end time Babylon comes only by the grace of God and the leading of His Spirit. Understanding is good and teaching is good, but sometimes we can’t see the forest through the trees. Idolatry is rampant in Babylon, and often we can’t see it in our own lives unless we ask the Lord to show it to us.
The best articles on coming out of Babylon are not my own and so I compiled a bunch of articles on my links page. One such article I liked was this one. http://truthinscripture.com/2010/07/21/fleeing-from-babylon/
I am assured that it is the Lord who desires to lead His people out of Babylon. And so in that sense we must seek His leading and His great power which is able to make a way for us, according to His lovingkindness. Bless you.
Tim
Tim,
Pete and I have had some discussions on “fleeing the physical Babylon” I believe that Babylon is the worldwide protestant and Catholic churches, virtually all of organized Christianity. Certainly all of the worlds’ pastor – pew-sitter churches.
To me “fleeing the physical Babylon” is simply coming out from these church systems. After all, we are warned not even to return for a coat in Matt 24:18.
Pete sees this call to leave Babylon as the call to turn from sinning, from all the spiritual deceptions that Babylon teaches, but I think that we must separate from these abominations
Have you felt the call to separate?
God Bless
Glenn
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for the comments. The way I see it Babylon is more than a church with false teaching.
The biblical antitype for the Mystery which is Babylon is firstly Babel and then Babylon of Old. These were political, economic, military and religious cities/kingdoms.
The final mystery Kingdom is no different. Clearly as believers we are inclined to focus upon religious Babylon and her harlotries, but Babylon in it’s fullest context is a City and Kingdom.
In bringing this to a fuller understanding I guess the bible could in some way be summed up as a tale of two cities. The kingdom of God and His Christ, with whom we fellowship in Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem. And the kingdom of the prince of this world, Lucifer and his earthly city, Babylon.
I certainly feel called to separate from many of the earthly and Babylonian values of this world. I at times despair of things I hear spoken by believers but I fail to see any lasting value in a kind of Pharisaical separation from believers that many are calling for. One could consider Christ’s statement about fleeing in a spiritual context .ie let him who is in Judea flee to the mountains. The mountains of course representing the place where we find true fellowship with God, the high places, again could speak of the heavenly city, Zion. Not so much a physical fleeing.
I fellowship with a bunch of people who are earnestly trying to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. It’s just a shame that they have to much leaven coming in from American churches and teachers. It is becoming a mess out there and perhaps there will come a time when the Lord makes it clear that I should leave my fellowship.
Bless you,
Tim
I believed that there is blood guilt in the church. In the past we knew that there were persecutions of innocent blood. Even around 1000AD there were incidents of massacres and even the broke out in the church there were incidents of blood shedding.
During the reign of David, there was a famine for three successive years; so David sought the face of the LORD. The LORD said, “It is on account of Saul and his blood-stained house; it is because he put the Gibeonites to death.” 2 Sam 21:1
I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished. Rev. 17:6
Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: “You are just in these judgments, you who are and who were, the Holy One, because you have so judged; for they have shed the blood of your saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.” Rev. 16:5-6
In her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth.Rev.18:24
So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers! “You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barakiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. (Mt. 23:31-38)
Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man. Gen 9:6
Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. 1Jn. 3:15
