911 wake up call

Is it a weird co-incidence that the date of the World Trade Center tragedy, 9-11-01,  has a biblical correlation to the Tower of Babel story in the book of Genesis?  Not the wording alone but a numerical correlation. More shortly….

It was around the time of the 911 tragedy that my spiritual journey began more earnestly. Even though I live half a world away, and most of the people in Australia would not have any direct involvement in that event, it had such a significant effect on our nation.

I was running a small business at the time and I don’t think the phone rang for several days. Everything kinda stopped, and we along with much of the world, watched the worlds most powerful nation endure her tragedy.

As a Christian I found the event troubling for the nation of the United States is a God fearing nation, and if Gods word is true then where was He on this fateful day.

Psalm 127 declares “Unless the Lord watches over the city the watchmen stay awake in vain.”

Surely America’s God ought to have guarded that city. It is the Lord who guards the city, right!

This was the nation which exports her great preachers to the world, who openly proclaim the deity of Messiah, who teach Christ across the airwaves of much of the world. This is the nation whose president stood up and said that Jesus Christ was a wonderful influence on his life, and now this. Was this event the just reward for their faithfulness.

Well for me I have to admit that this event was troubling. But it was also the beginning of a journey which continues today. A journey which has brought me to a place where I no longer see the world as I did then.

Today I see a world that is inextricably linked to a God who loves and who chastens, who desires righteousness in His people. A world which is inextricably linked to Gods word, which He declared to all generations though His prophets and apostles, as a warning and a guide to pilgrims.

It was 911 that opened my eyes somewhat to the possibility that all is not as it should be in Christendom.  So as I began to search the word I became increasingly troubled about the nature of much of modern day Christendom.

It was the discovery one day that the date 09-11-01, when reversed, leads you to the scripture of the destruction of the tower of Babel. Yes, go to the first book of the bible (01), then the eleventh chapter (11) and now read the nine (9) verses. This one blew me away. Was God saying that we have imitated a Babylonian (Babel) type of system in modern day America.

Did these towers represent the pride and arrogance of a people, without God. Seeking to establish a system which reached to the heavens and declared itself not answerable to God, as in the day of Babels demise?

The more I studied, the more I became convinced and ultimately came to the conclusion that God was indeed allowing this event to be used as a trumpet blast, one which declares,  flee this unrighteousness.

Rev 18:4 Come out of he my people, lest you share in her sorrows

Today I see 911 as the incident which ought to have caused Christendom to stand up and take note of one of the most significant end time issues pertaining to Christian’s. The call to come out from Babylon the Great and be separate.

These events have highlighted a system that finds little in common with the righteousness of Christ. And though many Western nations still hold to the thought that they are Christian, this is clearly no longer the case. The fruit of a generation of greed, selfishness and unrighteous gain has been revealed. A system which has sought to lord it over the poor, to profit from the enslavement of the weak, a system which trades in the souls of men with the promise and hope of financial and material gain. A system which has traded Godliness for secular humanism and the moral depravity that comes with that.  A Babylonian system which has placed idols in front of Gods people, and we have bowed with our affections, we have served and we have laboured for food which perishes and become enslaved to the system.

Now the spiritual manifestation of this event in the days which follow shall be an undoing of the power, pride and prosperity of western nations, lead by the USA, and though she determines in her heart that she shall never see sorrow, it shall surely come.

Now these idols of Babylon are about to be unveiled and this by the grace of God.

I suspect that in the years ahead we’ll discover what it is that we have truly placed our hope and trust in. Have we placed our hope in what this world offers, in uncertain riches, in gold and silver, in nations and armies and weapons, for all these things will mean precious little to us in the day of trouble. For unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen guard in vain.

For me at least, this event was a clear trumpet blast. Not only that, but a symbolic event in which God was seeking to unveil a mystery, a mystery pertaining to the coming judgement of Mystery Babylon.

Jer 50:14   “Take up your positions around Babylon, all you who draw the bow. Shoot at her! Spare no arrows, for she has sinned against the Lord.
Jer 50:15   Shout against her on every side! She surrenders, her towers fall, her walls are torn down. Since this is the vengeance of the Lord, take vengeance on her; do to her as she has done to others.
